Thunderbirds Charities – 2018 Outstanding Foundation Award Honoree

Thunderbirds Charities was established in 1986 as the charitable arm of the Phoenix Thunderbirds. Its purpose is to grant funds that are generated by the Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament.

The mission of Thunderbirds Charities is to assist children and families, help people in need and improve the quality of life in our communities. The organization is proud to embrace people from different backgrounds and cultures. Over the years, Thunderbirds Charities has supported the Down Syndrome Network by providing around $70,000 in funds.

Thanks to the donations from Thunderbirds Charities, Down Syndrome Network has been able to effectively assist even more people with Down syndrome at all stages of life. The organization’s support has made an exponential difference in DSNetwork’s ability to expand their programs and services to people with Down syndrome, and their families. Donations from Thunderbirds Charities have had a direct impact on the iCan Bike and Swim Camps, Tweens and Teens CAN, Club Xtra for KIDS, Aging Matters, A Day in the Life/Parents and Schools in Partnership.

Through their work with DSNetwork, Thunderbirds Charities has helped in educating others that individuals with Down syndrome can be active and productive members of the community.
