Meet Nohea: Ambassador of 2021 Down Syndrome Walk Arizona
“My sister Nohea came to live with us in March of 2020,” says Janeive. “This was an unplanned move that came suddenly and with the pandemic it made it an extra tough year for our family. I’m happy to say Nohea adjusted very well.”
Janeive connected with the DSNetwork on Facebook. “It has been one of the best resources for us,” she says. “Nohea has met many friends by participating in the Xcell group for adults. They have online zoom groups where they do all sorts of things from crafts to talent shows to health and wellness discussions.”
Nohea’s family attended the DSNetwork’s Spring Fling and Holiday drive-through events last year. Nohea was so excited to see Santa and other characters who were there waiving to everyone. She loves waving and saying hello to everyone which is why she is going to be thrilled to walk this year as an Ambassador. Last year was their first walk and even though it was set up differently due to the pandemic, Nohea’s family really enjoyed participating.
“So we’re back this year and in the years to come! Our family walks because we love coming together to spread awareness about Down Syndrome. My favorite part is seeing all the smiling faces and knowing we all share something in common…and that’s loving someone with Down syndrome. It’s an amazing feeling!”
